Rambunctious Puppy

Look at this goof ball.  We met his girl friend, Cayman, at auditorium shores this morning and the got to run all around!  It was the quietest I've ever seen it.  Steel made friends with a few passing dogs along the way, but he loves Cayman.  He gets tired/lazy/doesn't want to chase her too much, so he just waits until she is close.  She knows it's coming so stops a ways off and it's a stand off until he decided to pounces on her.  They are too funny together.

Now he is passed out on the bed.  He loves his play dates just as much as his momma does!

Today is about love...
1. Grab whom ever is next to you and give them a hug.  If it's your significant other, give them a kiss.  If it's a stranger, give them smile.  Life is too short and can be stolen away to quickly to not to love more freely and openly.  2. When I'm cold, there is nothing better than getting into my warm car.  3. I love how every morning Steel will follow me in the kitchen because he knows I will sneak him a carrot.  4. When D and I hold hands for an extended period of time, I love how he twirls my wedding ring.  5. Love that our Bella bean has been cleared to be active again.  She is as playful and crazy as ever.  Makes all the weeks of her hurting worth the fix.

Weekly Recap

Sweet 16.  KU is still in the running, so we will be watching tonight as they take on North Carolina.
We've been trying to get caught up on our shows also.
Mad Men starts tonight, and sadly, we still need to finish this last season.
We did watch New Girl last night, and it was SO funny.  I love Zoey Deschanel.  It's definitely one of my favorite shows on TV this season.

My Real Simple from last month.  Not sure how it took me so long to pick it up, but it might have something to do with the books I have been reading.  This last month was centered on taking time out of your day for yourself.  To really relax, even if that huge to-do list is not done.  I am the first to admit that I am horrible at doing nothing.  Even when we are watching shows or trying to relax, I'm usually multitasking with a book or my computer.  It's so easy to push any scheduled 'me' time away, when life is busy.  What was life like with out all the distractions and noise?  It's almost impossible to imagine.  Finding this time is something I need to work on.

This weather!  Yesterday was spent outside with friends at their pool, soaking in the warmth of the sun.  One thing I know is that I love the sun.  I imagine that if I lived in a place where it was more cloudy than sunny that I would be a lot less happy.  I can't get enough of that vitamin D.

I am wishing I could see two movies - Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Hunger Games asap.  Both of which are now out, but I still haven't seen them.  I am waiting a little bit, as to not fight the opening weekend crowds, to see the Hunger Games, and the other movie is on D's Netflix list, but has a long wait time.  It just can't get here soon enough.  Both are amazing book series.  Empowering women roles overcoming so many things.  After finishing both series, it makes me want to learn and master a self defense skill.  My friend and I were thinking about taking archery lessons.  Who doesn't want to be badass with a bow and arrow?

To get back into a running/workout routine.  The pool time definitely reminded me that I'd like to tone some areas and get back into shape.  I am still running every one in a while, but I need to kick it up a notch.  I know what I need to tone (hips, thighs, butt) and just really need to stop making excuses... they are never good enough.  Looks like I'll be taking an afternoon run soon.

1. Need to start running in the morning more - Nice 3 mile run with Steel  2. I think a Cafe Latte is my new favorite drink.  Too bad it's best with whole milk... 3. Even at home, lunch requires Central Market's turkey, fruit (today was banana and grapes) and carrots (Steel loves when I sneak him some) 4.  If you haven't liked Accessory Auctions on Facebook yet, you probably should.  5.  Taking new website head shots for 36th Street - been getting pretty all day

Monday, March 19

1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. The Hunger Games. I'm not kidding this is what I've done all day. So addicting = me super unproductive.  I started last night, so the good thing is I'm already half way done!  :o)

Weekly Recap

There is pretty much no way to avoid it.  The NCAA tournament has been constantly on our TV.  All shows, movies, projects have been put on hold until the tournament is over.  I completely forgot to fill out a bracket this year, but with all the upsets, it's probably better.  Crossing my fingers and toes that KU makes it to the sweet 16 tonight!

I finally finished book 9 of a series I've been reading and might put book 10 on hold to finally read The Hunger Games.  I also have been going back and reading one of my favorite blogs called A Cup of Jo. She has some amazing articles, and her topics are always worth reading.  If you've never heard of her, definitely go check her out.  For those mommy's out there, I love her Motherhood Mondays.

Oh my goodness, the weather today!  It is gorgeous out here in Austin.  A perfect 70 degree overcast day with a mid-day light shower.  Seeing that it was SO nice out, D and I decided to get some outdoor things done around the house, including mowing, picking up leaves and cleaning out our gutters.  Let me tell you, the gutters were long over due!

My bestie lived just a little bit closer.  San Francisco is just a little too far away for a weekend trip.  Miss Katie, we need to change this.

These adorable sweetheart luggage tags from Etsy that I found on Pinterest for $32.50.  Such a great little gift for someone that is getting married or a couple off on their first big trip.

How cute are they??

Happy Birthday Grandpa

Happy birthday to my amazing, wonderful, hilarious grandfather!!!  I miss him terribly, but am sending him lots of love from here in Austin.

Had to share this memory of their last trip down to see us.  We always play pitch when we are all together and this moment still makes me smile.  For those that don't play pitch, it was guys "we" against girls "them" and we were WAY down.

Grandma shot the moon, or basically saying we were going to get all the points and then we'd win the game.  Yep, it definitely happened and you see the reaction.

Grandma was laughing hysterically and grandpa had to plug his ears.  Love them.

Weekly Recap

I haven't been home much this week with wedding season off in full swing.  When I have though, my hubby seems to be taking over the TV with basketball.  I don't foresee much changing with March Madness right around the corner...  Always love cheering on my Jayhawks though!

I'm REALLY hoping to start reading The Hunger Games.  Seriously, I refuse to watch the movie before I've read it.  I hear it's amazing.

My manicure that I got earlier in the week.  I posted pictures before, but it's actually staying on.  That in itself is something to love.

I could go on vacation.  For some reason this week, not sure if it's all the rain or what, but I'd love to go sit on a warm sunny beach this week.  I could also be talked into going anywhere in Europe!  Any one ready to join me?

A basket for my bike.  We live so close to a grocery store, some days I'd just love to ride my bike there and get what I need, but that requires somewhere to put it.  Who doesn't want to have an adorable vintage looking metal basket on the front of their bike?

Hope you are having a Sunday Funday!

Saturday, March 10

{As a way to recap the day, remember things that have happened and look for the positive, I've decided to start doing a Five at Five post.  Sweet simple and to the point, I'll try and post most days and my goal is to post five things about the day.}

Food Love - Lasagna

I don't make this very often, but it's pretty darn delicious.  Lasagna, although it appears high maintenance, really is pretty easy and can feed an abundance of people.  We had some visitors in town, so this was perfect.  I lean toward the spicy sausage, but the original recipe does not call for it.  I completely forgot to capture the yummy, cheesiness of it, so you will just have to use your imagination!

This would be PERFECT for a rainy day like today. Enjoy.
