I honestly can not believe that I ran seven miles without stopping on Saturday. It's amazing to me how much my frame of mind has changed through this short process. I use to think running a mile or two was hard/long/exhausting, and now, I run at least that {unless I'm doing speed work}, plus more.
I'm not the fastest runner in the world, but I am still around the 10 minute mark. Never under, so I am going to make it my new goal on my shorter runs to get there. This past long run, I was doing really well , but lost my speed around mile five and six. I ended with an average of 11:04 minutes per mile. For some reason, I decided to run mile seven on a hilly road, I don't think I was thinking at that point. But, I made it. When my music stopped and my Nike+ app told me I hit the seven mile mark, I was jumping up and down! No, not really, in reality I was leaning on my knees exhausted. I was pretty stoked though. This was the first time in my life that I have ever ran that long of a distance. HIGH FIVE ME!
I must say that the weather Saturday morning was on my side. It was a nice 85 out and had a really cool breeze since the sun was covered by tons of clouds. I pray for the fall to hurry up and get here so runs won't be as hot. At least when November and the Half Marathon comes around the weather will be much cooler and should make the run easier - Ha.
Looking ahead we will be running 7 again this weekend, 8 and 9 the following two!
