30 Weeks

Week 30
Size of Baby Walker 3 pounds = size of a cauliflower!
Symptoms  Well I haven't seen any signs of being swollen yet, which I'm super happy about.  I still (knock on wood!!!!) haven't seen any stretch marks.  Belly button is still mostly in, although baby girl loves to stretch it out.   No linea nigra, aka the line down the center of the belly, yet anyways.
Cravings/Aversions  I really have the hardest time eating vegetables during the day.  In knowing this, I've been trying to add more veggies to my dinner mix.  Roasted cauliflower, yum.  Kale chips, check.  Baked sweet potato fries, yes please.  I'm not sure why I can't eat more during the day.... I'm loving the citrus that's in season right now.  Grapefruit is my fav.  I've been keeping roasted almonds in my car for a quick snack when I need them.  Water, yep, I'm downing that too.  My weight has still been good, and I'm just trying to keep on the healthy track.
Exercise  Yoga and walking the pups was great this past week.  Feeling that I need to stretch more as this belly keeps getting bigger and bigger.  I had a wedding this past weekend and being on my feet that long definitely made my stomach tight.  By the end of the night, it almost felt like I was doing a crunch.
Sleep  Sleep had been really good, but the last few days not so much.  I slept wrong on my neck, so I change positions multiple times and wake up with tightness in my shoulders.  Hopefully the yoga and stretching will help that.  Plus, who wants to get out of bed when it's so cold out?
Best moment of the week...  D had a 'snow' day on Friday, which was pretty amazing.  We got to sleep in and he worked on painting the remaining items in the baby room.  It's always wonderful to have him home, but I do find I get less done with work when he's here.  Maybe he's just too cute of a distraction.
Changes Definitely feeling the count down hitting the 30 week mark last week.  I keep adding to my list and very few things have been checked off.  However, D and I decided we are going to have a Doula with us, and I've scheduled 3 prenatal visits with pediatricians this week, so some things are happening.  I also had the thought this week that I really can't remember how my stomach looked pre-baby bump.  Maybe that's when you know you're in the 3rd trimester.

29 Weeks

Week 29
Size of Baby Walker 2.5 pounds = size of a beet!
Symptoms  The traveling has made me a little more tired, but I don't feel like I've had any other new symptoms this week.  I think maybe I'm feeling a little more of the nesting lately.  I really just am excited to have my shower and be able to finish our nursery.
Cravings/Aversions This is more just eating, but I've tried to eat at least 2 eggs every day at home.  I am trying to make sure I'm getting enough protein, and they have been a really easy lunch lately.  Other than that, I've eaten more sweets this week - oops!  I blame it on my travels, but before that I was doing pretty good.
Exercise  I got to walk around the city on my trip, which was really nice to be outside enjoying the weather.  Not quite as many hills in the Oakland area, but it still felt great to walk around.
Sleep  Still finding it easy to go to sleep, and I've only been getting up once a night to use the restroom.  I even slept well when I wasn't in my own bed, which I was surprised about.
Best moment of the week...  It had to be the entire trip to see my bestie, Katie, in California.  We had so much fun searching for wedding gowns, celebrating Baby Walker and really just enjoying each other's company.  Katie's mom was out visiting too, so it really was the best weekend.  They even had a little surprise shower for me on Sunday.  It was very cute, and I got spoiled with macaroons on top of it!  It was definitely hard to leave today and crazy to think the next time I see her, this little bundle of joy will be here.  I also came home to the nursery painted and D working on building a shed in our backyard!  I should leave more often!!
Changes  My belly is growing away!  Now you can really see where she is sitting and actually see my belly move when she kicks and moves.  D and I were lounging on the couch mid last week and we both happened to be looking when she made my belly move all over the place.  We both just laughed, it was pretty amazing.

Eighth Doctors Appointment
This doctors appointment started with the first glucose test.  All that means is that when I checked in, I went to the lab and got to drink about 2-3 ounces of this sugary liquid.  The one I got was lime flavored, which really tasted like a sugary sprite.  I drank the small cup and let the nurses know when I was done to start the hour wait.  I wasn't told that I needed to check back in, so we sat in the waiting room until the hour was up.  Really, we should have gone to my appointment with my doctor, but instead I waited the full hour and went and got my blood taken first.  Then upon checking back in afterwards, we got to go to our appointment.  The visit went great.  We got to hear the heart beat on the doppler again - 132 - and she said my belly was measuring right on point.  We asked a few follow up questions and ended the appointment by both getting our TDAP shot.  All parents and anyone who is going to be around the newborn extensively needs to get one.

Two days later, I got a call from my doctor's nurse that I didn't pass the first round from my glucose test, so I needed to come back for the 3 hour test.  Yay (insert sarcasm).  I really was not looking forward to this and still don't really know why I failed the first one...  The nurse suggested that I come in, ideally sooner than later, at 8 AM to start the test.  I had to fast for 8 hours prior and couldn't eat or drink anything but water for the 3 hour duration in the office.  I went in the next morning.

Lab work
I woke up early and got there right at 8 AM.  This appointment started with me headed directly to the lab and having them take my blood, pre-sugar drink.  I then got to drink this lovely bottle.

I got to choose if I wanted lemon lime or orange.  I went for the lime again, which was okay.  I really felt like I ingested about 2 cups of sugar in that small bottle.  The nurse warns that I probably shouldn't try and drink it too quickly, as it makes some people sick.  However, I only had 5 minutes to finish it.  I let them know when I was done and to the waiting room I went for my 1 hour wait.  Each hour they had me come back and I would get blood drawn.  I felt like my arm looked like I was a druggie by the end of the appointment.  I also had her use a side vein on the second prick and totally made my arm bruise.  I did this for the 3 hours I was there and finally got to leave around 11:30 AM.  Let's just say I was starving and tired of drinking water.  I did bring some snacks, so I could eat something right away.  I'm still waiting to hear the results, hopefully by tomorrow, but fingers and toes are crossed.

Week 28
Size of Baby Walker 2 pounds = size of a papaya!
Symptoms  Felt pretty good this week.  Love feeling her move more.  I think I say that a lot, but it really is the best feeling.
Cravings/Aversions  I've been pretty darn good about avoiding refined sugar.  I've still been eating fruit and made my favorite 'energy balls' as a sweet snack, when I'm craving one.  Basically they are just oatmeal, honey, peanut butter, coconut and flack seeds (if you have them).  I've had some yogurt this week.  I'd say it's been a little bit of a craving, but I made sure to get the no sugar added options!
Exercise  Weather has been a little nicer, and we've been able to walk the pups a little more.  Also, we took the dogs on a walk/jog around our neighborhood.  I love these family jogs!  We don't go super fast, but I just have the best time.  Running actually felt pretty good and even running with the belly wasn't super awkward.  I wanted to go to yoga, but it didn't work with my schedule this past week.  Hoping to go once this week!
Sleep  We've been doing some relaxation practice, which we do right before we go to bed.  It's been amazing.  I seriously have slept so great with this.  I love it.  I've woken up a few times and feel like my lower abdomen muscles are stretching, but I've been using pillows and it's been helpful.
Best moment of the week...  I've been gathering a few items for the nursery, which is very exciting.  I also, non-baby related, got to celebrate my bestie's birthday.  I got dressed up in on of her black jumpsuits, which I loved.  One, I don't look good in jumpsuits.  Seriously, I was so surprised that I even 1. liked it and 2. it fit me!  I borrowed it from her, but I'm going to be ordering one, probably tonight...  We also heard that our first had their little girl and SO wish we could go meet her!  For now we'll just love her through pictures.
Changes  Holy veins!  TMI, I'm sorry, but this week it was amazing how much I could see them in the girls.  I heard that it happens, but I hadn't really seen a difference until this week.  The beauties of your body changing for this girl.

27 Weeks

Week 27
Size of Baby Walker 1.8 pounds = size of an rutabaga!
Symptoms  Still feeling this little girl all up in my ribs.  I swear her butt sits in-between my ribs half the time.  I'm not sure how she is so darn high up.  I also have been feeling more stretched lately with her growing.  Mostly when I sleep, but I've also had some annoying back pain (mainly I think from being in the car so much the last few weeks).  It's made finding a comfortable sleeping position harder.
Cravings/Aversions  Well, I'm going to try and reduce my sugar intake for my 3rd trimester, which will be hard.  I think it will mostly be refined sugar, but I should probably add more veggies in my diet.
Exercise  Other than some nice puppy runs/walks, I haven't gotten out much.  I wanted to go to yoga today, but my client schedule wouldn't let me, so I'll try and do some stretching in the mornings and at night before bed.
Sleep  Like I mentioned above, the back pain has made finding a position more difficult.  I've slept pretty good once I'm asleep though.
Best moment of the week...  New Years Eve was fun.  We got dressed up and just went over to a friend's place for dinner and to watch the fireworks.  We did make it to midnight, but then enjoyed sleeping in on New Years Day.  2013 was such a wonderful year for us.  I can't wait to see where 2014 takes us.
Changes  We have started our Hypnobirthing classes, which I'm loving.  It's all about changing your way of thinking about labor and birthing.  I'm excited for the possibilities and want to have such an amazing birthing story.
Looking forward to having a weekend with no meetings scheduled!  I haven't had one of those in a while, and I'm looking forward to getting some more things done in her nursery!

Happy New Year

2013 will always hold a special place in my heart!  Thankful for my amazing husband and everything we have gotten to experience together this past year.  I wanted to share our annual holiday card that briefs a few of our adventures:
