Slacking..

This was pointed out to me by one of my lovely friends recently --- thanks Shelley!
Yes, I know, I've been seriously slacking on the blog front - sorry!
Here is an update on my life...

/// Current Projects \\\
Home sweet home, does it ever end??  I've been out painting our gutters this week.  The back is ALMOST done, just need to do one more coat on the trim in a few spots and put the gutters back on.  Then, on to the front.  New garage doors need to be purchased, and then we can paint away.  Luckily, the front should be much easier and faster, since we have so much stone there.

I'm still 'working' on reupholstering a chair.  Currently, it's been sitting in my garage for the past month because I've been too busy.  Need to bust that baby out and get to working on it.

/// Running \\\
We are about a month out and I'm trying to run my butt off.  I've been pretty good at sticking with my training schedule.  I was supposed to run 9 miles this last weekend and ran about 7.  It was one of those mornings that I just didn't want to run.  I was hurting after mile 3 and knew it was not going to be good.  After about 4, I knew I needed motivation to get anywhere near 7, so I decided to run to my favorite coffee shop.  I figured I would run there, call D, and he and the pups could come pick me up.  Run I did, well mostly.  I was that person that tripped while running and about fell on my face.  Yep, I bit the shit and not very gracefully.  I was trying to cross the road, the sidewalk ended, and tripped on a vine or twig (something that was obviously out to get me...) and fell on my hands.  I'm sure a few innocent passers by thought it was hilarious.  Don't worry, I was able to keep going, but I'm feeling some ankle issues now because of it.  10 miles is the goal on Saturday.  Let's see how many I can bust out this week.

/// Baking \\\
I really haven't done a ton lately.  I am still volunteering twice a month with Bake A Wish, so that tends to fill my sweet tooth.  I tend to bake a little extra for the hubby to enjoy.  Am I slowly giving him diabetes???  I told him the other day that he can't eat all these sweets if he isn't going to work out too. :o)  I'd like him to live forever, please and thank you.  I did bake a yummy Almond Poppy Seed cake.  They called it a bread, but it would be the sweetest bread I've ever had.  I made it in a bundt cake pan.  This girl only has one bread pan...  I left off the glaze.  It's pretty tasty and it makes your house smell divine while it's baking!

/// Pups \\\
Are crazy.  They've both been a little nuts since it's too hot to be outside much.  Bella still has issues with her back legs.  Will a girl ever get better?  Generally, she does okay, but can't partake in the puppy play dates because she ends up limping on it for 2-3 days afterwards.  We are just praying her other leg lasts until the year mark.  Yep, we got puppy insurance on that one.

/// Count Down \\\
It's almost October - my favorite month of the year!!! I'm so excited.  We have lots of fun things planned, and it can't get here soon enough.  San Fran, Half Marathon, besties visit here in Austin, Friends Wedding, Halloween, oh and of course birthdays!!! We will actually be in Austin this year, so that is cause for all kinds of extra celebration.

But really, let's get serious for a moment.  Who has a Friday pass to ACL that they want to sell me????????  I'm DYING to go see Florence+The Machine.  Oh please.  That would be wonderful.  I'm not asking for much, really.

Devastation

I can't believe that 20 miles away from me wildfires are ruining everything in their path.  It was surreal driving to central Austin last night and both sides of the highway had these eerie smoke clouds in the sky.  I saw these images today and I was speechless.  My thoughts and prayers go out to all those who have been affected.  The last few days we have been enjoying the 90 degree weather but still not a drop of rain.  Dear Rain, please come soon.

Slacking...

Yes, yes, I know.  I've definitely been slacking in the current blogging category.  Sorry.  Can I just say that life is completely crazy and unpredictable right now.  Work is nuts and I love it.  How can you not love seeing happy couples devote their lives to each other.  Yes, I still get choked up.  However, it doesn't give me much time to focus on my list, which is getting longer each day, of DIY projects.  The bathroom is so close to having the major aspects done, but not yet.  Finalized picture to come.  Not to mention the gorgeous weather lately in Austin and my parents FINALLY moving down.  Life is great.  I'm truly blessed, and this Lent (Ha!  I had advent... apparently I don't know what time of the year it is...) I will no longer be baking for myself...  There goes dessert.  I'm hoping to bake, and instead of enjoying it, giving it to others.

Happiness

We officially made it home from Vegas.  No, we did not win millions.  However, we had a blast.  I'll be posting more pictures soon.  D ordered Real Simple Magazine for me and yesterday my first one came in the mail.  A lot of the magazine talked about how to be happy and happiness in general.  I read this part from the editor and I thought it was so true, so I'll share:
"...we all must grab onto those fleeting joys as fast as we can.  How? Think small, and just look around you. Take off your high heels and put on your slippers. Eat a piece of chocolate. Watch a funny TV show. Read a shorty story. Hug a spouse or a child or a parent - anybody and everybody.  Wipe the crumbs from the kitchen counter.  Sit down and do nothing for once in your life. This is happiness, each of these things. And if you incorporate enough of them into your day - and hit Pause when they come, if only for a moment - you might find that you know exactly what it means to 'be happy'."

Make sure you are taking time everyday to do something for you, whatever that might be.
