FoodLove ~ Indecision

I had to laugh at some the reactions from my post yesterday.  I actually thought about starting it with, 'No, for those that are thinking it, we are not expecting'.  Sorry, for all those that got excited, I know 13.1 miles had to be a let down for you...  :o)

I haven't done much baking or even cooking lately.  I've been trying to get a running schedule back together and trying to eat a little healthier, which really means just taking out most of the sweets.  I do eat pretty well, so a little sweetness is a must here and there.  So this week I don't have a recipe to share.  Not one that I've made this week anyways.

I've was browsing through my Pinterest and food blogs trying to figure out what I could post, but was feeling very indecisive today.   I'm hoping to get to bake this weekend (Sunday being my only bit of free time), so what should I bake?

Food Love: Pasta with Kale Walnut Pesto

You know how much I love Real Simple.  They never seem to disappoint with their recipes and every month, I find a couple that I am dying to try!  This first one was absolutely delicious.  Pesto's are so simple to put together, and yet, I never seem to make them.  Such an easy week night meal.  We paired our pesto pasta with grilled chicken.  I managed to get a picture of the last few bites before I devoured it all!  Light, creamy and super flavorful = delicious.

Food Love: No Bake Energy Bites

I have to admit, I have been slacking on the recipe front. Fridays have been so crazy lately, I haven't had much time for anything but work. These little bite sized balls are perfect for my busy schedule. They take no time to make, most ingredients are already in your pantry, and they are so good!

Food Love - Lasagna

I don't make this very often, but it's pretty darn delicious.  Lasagna, although it appears high maintenance, really is pretty easy and can feed an abundance of people.  We had some visitors in town, so this was perfect.  I lean toward the spicy sausage, but the original recipe does not call for it.  I completely forgot to capture the yummy, cheesiness of it, so you will just have to use your imagination!

This would be PERFECT for a rainy day like today. Enjoy.

Food Love - Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Well, hello 200th post.  That's just crazy...

It's been rainy the last few days here in Austin, which means I could stay in bed all day.  AKA, I'm lazy and that is why this is a Saturday post instead of Friday.  I blame it on the rain.

I don't know about you, but I don't use my slow cooker as much as I probably should!  What's not to love about walking in the door to delicious smells and not having to cook dinner.  Real Simple actually did an issue featuring all the great things you can make with the slow cooker.  This particular recipe wasn't from there, but pulled pork is something I hardly ever make.  I honestly would like to cook more with different meats.  I feel like I get stuck cooking the same meats when sometimes it's nice to change it up a bit.  Really though, you can't mess up this recipe.  There is hardly any prep, other than mixing the 14 spices (or just buy your own at the store).  You are going to love this!  It's yummy hot or cold, and I really spoiled my hubby with potato salad and beans to complete his barbecue fix.

The Yummy Life's pictures is way cuter than mine and  check out her homemade sauce to go along with it!

Since I am really stuck inside most of the weekend, I have a few other recipes that I might just have to try out: White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies and these for the pups!

Food Love - Red Velvet Cake

Happy Friday!  It's been a long week and I can't wait to get home and just relax.  Quite possibly drink a glass of wine, or two... I pinned this recipe the other day and realized I have never made a red velvet cake.  With the holiday of love right around the corner, I thought it would be quite fitting to make.  I might try to make these with mini muffin tins and make mini red velvet whoopie pies.

The image of directions was so cute, I decided to just put it on the blog and give all credit to the wedding chicks blog.  To see the full recipe, click here.

Food Love - Superbowl

I like watching football, but you know you really go to Superbowl parties for the food!  Well, that and the Puppybowl.

What goodies are you planning on bringing?  This week I'm sharing my front runners for the Superbowl party we are going to.  I'll let you know how they fare.

It's not a party with out a dip...

Food Love - Pumpkin Spice Donut Holes

Yes, donut holes.  I'm not a huge fan of donuts, but these were ridiculous.  For one they are not fried, they are baked, so better for you right?  Plus, anything with pumpkin is right up my alley.  I decided to make this spontaneously last week because I had some left over pumpkin from the treats I made the pups.  I actually didn't have allspice on hand, so I substituted with pumpkin spice.  When they are warm, they melt in your mouth, and you have to stop yourself from eating the whole entire pan.  Luckily I took a picture prior to tasting them.  The best part is that they are SUPER easy to make.

Food Love - Tres Leches Cake

Light, moist, airy and oh-so sweet.  You can't get much better than that for a dessert.  I had never had Tres Leches cake prior to making it, but The Pioneer Woman's description of the cake made it sound to die for!

I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked this little cake.  The more I try it, the more I seem to crave it.  You don't need a huge slice, and even in the fridge it's quite tasty.  I find myself having little bite sized pieces more often than I should!  Yum.
