Flip Happy

Crepes that is!  We took my cousin, Jason, here this weekend.  I'd never actually gone either, but had heard amazing things.  D and I decided to split a dessert.  REALLY, not sure what we were thinking!!! :o)  We went with the Lemon Curd with fresh blueberry sauce = delish!  Yet another fav of Austin.

Best part was when Jason said that crepes essentially was the French making burritos.  Hilarious.

Loves of Austin - Blues on the Green

I love summer time in Austin.  Not so much the constant 100 degree plus weather, but all the activities that are going on.  It took us three years to finally make it out to Blues on the Green in Zilker Park.  Every year in July/August they have a huge free concert every other week that showcases a blues band.  Last night was the last show for this year, which featured Los Lonely Boys, which meant it was packed.  We had drinks beforehand and then walked to the park.

Note to self - you can bring in coolers and chairs - even though the site says you are not allowed to.  We roughed it and only came in with our lovely selves.

It also was kind of hard to hear the band with all the people.  We found out as we left that if you sit on the outskirts of the park, you can actually hear MUCH better and it's about 10 degrees cooler.  We left a little early to go get frozen yogurt and avoid the crowds.  I'd definitely go again. It's a lot of fun to hear the live music and definitely an Austin thing to do!

Happy Friday! Love B

Loves of Austin - Zilker Musicals

It took me three years to finally make it out to the FREE, that's right free, musical they put on in Zilker park every summer.  This year they are performing Footloose, so I knew I wanted to go see it.  My mom and I decided to head out there a little early, and since you can bring in food and drink, we made a night of it.  We picked our spot on the hill, and I packed up a delicious cooler full of sandwiches, chips and of course my tart {will be sharing that recipe tomorrow} for the evening.

Go early if you want a decent seat - it fills up fast.  You can leave your blanket or chairs unattended after 6 p.m.  The play begins at sunset, approx. 8:30.  I LOVED it.  The vocalist were really good and I especially enjoyed the dry humor in the show.   I highly recommend going to see it before it's over.  Here is the flier -

We had such a good time.  Here are some pictures from the night -

Our spot from the hill.  We did pretty good, but they had the whole front blocked off because we picked the sponsor appreciation dinner night... Still worth it.

Mom and I - pre-sore butts.  I also recommend bringing chairs or a pillow to sit on.  After all that time, that ground does not feel good.

View of the stage during intermission.

You have to love all the amazing and free stuff to do in Austin in the summer!

Sweet. Sweet Girl.

This past weekend one of my best friends from Kansas came down to visit with her family, and we had a blast.  We did everything from going to the Children's Museum to spending an afternoon at Sea World in San Antonio.  One of my favorite things, that we seem to do every time they visit, is go to my FAVORITE cupcake place in Austin - Sugar Mama's.

If you haven't tried their delicious cupcakes, you need to.  If I don't convince you, Emma will show you how good they are!

She is adorable and hilarious.  How does that not make you want to run and devour one!!?!

Springtime in Austin

I had to share this hilarious picture of my little family.  We were enjoying the amazingly beautiful weather at one of my new favorite restaurant called Red's Porch.  Bella looks like such a goofball in this picture!  I love them.

Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday - lots of fun plans for the weekend!

Loves of Austin: ARW

Twice a year Austin Restaurant Week comes around, and my friends and I love the opportunity to try a new restaurant.

Every time there are new restaurants that partake, and the menus are always different.  This is the first session that they have offered brunch in their menu options.  All you have to do is pick where you want to eat and make a reservation.  Menu prices range from $10-35 per person.  I'm not sure where we should go this time, but if you are in Austin, you should definitely spoil yourself for ARW!!

Loves of Austin - Enchanted Rock

After almost three years in Austin, we finally made it out to Enchanted Rock.  A few Sundays ago, we woke up way too early, loaded up the car and headed out west.  Although I was exhausted from an awesomely amazing wedding the night before, and the time change was not on my side either,  I was excited to be outdoors.  It turned out to be the perfect day to go climb a rock with the family and the pups.  We called Bella our little billy goat.  She didn't let any rock, not matter the size, stop her from jumping up and being crazy.  She was all over the place and loving the new pups she met on the way up.  We packed PB&J's for lunch and with a few camel-backs, we were ready for our family adventure. This is definitely a fun place to take the pups, but definitely go on a cloudy day!

At the top of Enchanted Rock - Such a cute family we are!
I could barely keep up with these two

The rock - loved the colors
 Such pretty scenery

The boys off on their own adventures

 Love my parents

We had such a fun time.  We were only out there for 3 hours, but we could have spent the rest of the day there.

Happy Tuesday!  Love B
