Life right now...

Life is busy - I am BUSY.   I want to blog more, but there is just not enough time in the day.  I've been running, but not as much as I'd like.  Things are going a hundred miles a minute.  I've been trying to clean and organize the house any free moment I have.  In doing so, I found some loose recipe pages that I wanted to add on here instead of having them thrown around in my kitchen.  So here is my recipe dump.  There is no rhyme or reason to the recipes, they are just ones I've tried and are delicious!

Congo Bars

These bars are ridiculous.  They are sweet, chewy, chocolaty and crunchy!  Want a yummy treat for this weekend - you should probably make these:

Pushing Forward

I've been so, so unmotivated these last few weeks.  Being sick in itself was frustrating.  I hardly ever get sick, which makes it that much worse, but having to slow down is really hard for me.  I went from running my longest distance ever, seven miles, to running one mile hurting and not being able to breathe.  Annoying.  I really felt like I was having to start all over and I honestly wanted to cry.

Thank goodness for my hubby.  If he wasn't in this crazy mess of training with me, I would have probably given up.  This last week, I was still having a rough time, but made it on a few small runs.  But Sunday.. Sunday was my final push.  Our goal was ten miles.

I didn't make it ten, but I made it eight.  Shut the front door!  I was excited.  Although it wasn't to 'plan', I was still thrilled I made it longer than I had before. Ever.  Did I want to quit?  Duh.  Only on mile one, four, five, six, seven and eight - but I made it.  :o)  And this morning did I ever feel it.  Oh my body aches today, but I'm glad that I'm feeling back on track.

The easy thing to do was to stop.  Love B

A day to remember

10 years ago, I know exactly where I was when I heard the news.  I remember the heartbreak I felt, and still feel today, for those innocent people and brave police/firefighters/volunteers that lost their lives a decade ago.  I remember being fixated with the news and images from 9/11 for weeks after the tragedy that happened.  My thoughts and love go out to all those who lost someone on that day.  Although they took something or someone from us, they can never touch the memories of those that left their imprint behind.  Their strength and devotion will not be forgotten.  Today we remember.

Guinness Stout Brownies

Sounds delicious right?  They came out as the most rich, chocolaty, dense brownie I've ever made!  They melt in your mouth and definitely take care of that chocolate fix.  Plus, how can you resist chocolate topped with more chocolate?  Yum. Can you tell all I've been doing lately is baking?

Devastation

I can't believe that 20 miles away from me wildfires are ruining everything in their path.  It was surreal driving to central Austin last night and both sides of the highway had these eerie smoke clouds in the sky.  I saw these images today and I was speechless.  My thoughts and prayers go out to all those who have been affected.  The last few days we have been enjoying the 90 degree weather but still not a drop of rain.  Dear Rain, please come soon.

Sunday Breakfast

With everything going on in the morning, D and I tend to just eat cereal for breakfast.  I decided I needed to start spicing it up in the a.m.  While he was still snoozing this morning, I browsed through foodgawker {which I love oh, so much} for breakfast ideas.  I came across this Bacon, Egg and Toast Cups recipe and went for it.  It's so simple and most people have these ingredients in their kitchen, plus it looks way fancier and difficult than it is.  This would be perfect for a brunch with friends and family!
