This past Sunday afternoon, while the world was watching the FIFA World Cup, a few friends decided to get away from the big screen and venture out to a local vineyard. After hearing that there would be live music, wine and (cross our fingers) beautiful weather, I was all in. I drove out to Flat Creek Estates on my own since I had to leave a little early (for reasons you will find out about soon). It was such a beautiful drive and perfect for a Sunday afternoon. Windows down, hair blowing in the wind, the most windy hilly roads you've ever seen in Texas, the view was gorgeous.
This is the directions to get to the vineyard from my house. You can kind of see how fun the road looks
Officially made it to the vineyard
I had been out to the vineyard on a tour before, but it was much more relaxing coming out with a group of friends. After a quite interesting interaction with the owner, we got some wine and sangria and headed outside to enjoy the view and the drinks.
The girls - minus the two boys that joined us
The gorgeous view from the back of the bistro. The vineyard owns 80-acres of land and you can see the grapes growing way out there.
Our assortment of drinks! Yum.
Since I got sparkling wine, I got the fancy glass.
The hilarious part was that we ordered food, but then gave them our cell phone number. Apparently, since we were seated outside, it was a 'to-go' order and getting real silverware was a chore. Don't get me wrong, we just laughed it off and the food was amazing!! I got the Jammin' Cheese Sandwich, how fitting right? It was a delicious combination of jam, cheese and greens. Yum. We got to listen to the Continental Graffiti play a mix of jazz, swing and blues.
The band playing and we are digging in to our delicious foods.
My Jammin' Cheese Sandwich in classy plating, I know.
I had decided to try the Sparkling Raspberry Wine, and it was a hit. It was surprisingly not too sweet, and the perfect combination with a hot summer day. I shared the bottle with one other girl, and undoubtedly had a headache later in the day. Totally worth it. :o)
I must admit that I forgot to bring my camera on the trip, so all these pictures are either from my iPhone camera or from a friend.
Delicious and they have an Almond version as well!
They are most famous for their Super Texan, but it was a little hot out for that kind of wine on a Sunday
The beautiful view of the vineyard
It was definitely worth the trip out there and would be a great place to treat family that comes into town. Hits the spot on a Sunday afternoon.
