A Love - Hate Relationship...

...with running.  I'm not a natural runner, unlike my hubby who could not run for a year (while I train every day) and still run faster than me.  I'm trying my hardest to get back into a routine, but it's just not working out so well.
The hate... Since I am out of shape, the runs typically suck.  I start off at a decent pace, but end up having to walk some portions of the run.  It's already averaging around 90 degrees every afternoon.  Summer is going to be a scorcher!  I don't think I ever drink as much water as I am supposed to every day, which would help in those hot afternoons.  I hate that I can't schedule a specific time to run every day.  I know it would help, but honestly, my crazy life does not allow me to schedule a run the same time every day.  I could run in the mornings, but that would have me getting up at 4:30 a.m. every morning - This is not going to happen.
The love... I've been in pretty decent shape in the past.  I felt the 'runner's high,' so I know how great running can make you feel.  I love how my appetite changes and the foods I crave steer more towards the healthy side of the tracks when I run.  I don't know what it is, but I feel better about myself and my body as soon as I start running.  It gives you a confidence that, even if you haven't lost a pound or inches, that you are still doing something that is making you healthier and stronger.
So as much as I can find reasons to hate it... I probably should start loving it and stop complaining.
Here is to getting your butt of the couch and doing something.

  1. YAY!!!! Let me know, I am always there for you with running. We could do my Austin Fit training together. Running does suck, but the vibrams do make it better:)))
