I was inspired to make these Ghost Lamps a while back when I saw them featured on Life in the Fun Lane. We had this horrid lamp that hung in our kitchen nook area that I thought would be perfect for this project. I ripped off it's covering and found the frame quite nice. I then searched for a more interesting shape, and with out going a ton of places, I found one at Goodwill. I spray painted them both black and originally thought I was going to hang them by my fireplace in the master bedroom.
Now I did all of that quite a few months ago. Recently, I've gotten to a point where I really want to get projects done. I'm quite tired of just having things sitting around the house. I have been reading some really great book series lately, and I finished my last one yesterday evening. With all this new free time, not being consumed in an amazing book, the next best thing for me to do was DIY projects.
My amazing husband, oh how I love him, took me to Lowe's and we searched for the necessary items needed to put them up. I had the frames, and we left with two black light bulb sockets, two 15 foot extension cords and two ceiling hooks with anchors. It really took us about 15 minutes to get these up, which really was only because we like to make things difficult. :o)
I decided to put them up above my office desk in the master bedroom. I felt like it was feeling really empty and needed a little something to spruce it up. They are not completely done. We still need to secure the cords, but here is a preview!
**Again, sorry for my horrible pictures. The best my iPhone could do.
