We haven't been using our closet since we moved in to our house. For those new readers, there was water damage in our master bathroom, so we had to tear up some of the sheet rock. When I started to think what I wanted in my closet, I knew I did NOT want those annoying wire shelves. You know, the ones that are in every student apartment. Ugh, those had to go. We had been doing quite a bit of research (mostly the boy), but do you know how much customized closet shelving is??!!? Yeah, we had to do something else. With everything else we were remodeling, we couldn't spend 2K on a master closet. We had to get creative.
Ikea was my answer. I looked online at their furniture and closets and came up with this. I'm just going to say that I am not an 'interior designer,' so my drawings are not the best. :o) You can still get the picture.
I wanted to utilize as much of the wall space as possible. We got rid of the few shelves that were in there and also removed the super gross carpet. I found some remnant carpet at a place in North Austin. I found this carpet that I was in love with, but Darrell swore that it was too small, even though I had measured the floor earlier that day. He said I was crazy, and I didn't want to buy carpet I couldn't return and have it be too small. So I trusted him, and what did I learn... He was wrong. :o) Should have stuck with my instincts. Silly boys.
We get these ideas and the hard part is figuring out all the small pieces that actually make it work! We were able to get all the furniture from Ikea and shove it in our friend Matt's car. The boys set up all the furniture in the living room, and I had to wait two days for carpet to be put in and the floor boards (ask D about his experience putting in floor boards...lol) before I could really get things going in the closet. We had to leave it undone while we went home for the holidays. Coming back, it was nice to finally get one thing mostly finished. We still need the door and trim to be put on, but that will be easy. I put a few clothes in there to help you get a feel for it. Sorry, I still don't have a camera so the pictures are not the best and it's not big enough to get the full wall, but you'll get the idea. Now with out making you wait any longer, here is our new closet!!
Here is to pretty clothes and things to hang them on! Love B

oh man! i'm totally having closet envy right now.
